Check out this info from our friends at Mortified who are partnering with us for this very cool screening in LA this Saturday!

This Saturday Night, November 16th attend the Los Angeles premiere of Mortified Nation.  Celebrate the release of Mortified’s teen angst documentary by watching it in the same place that your teen angst began. A middle school.  We’ll even have a photographer on hand to help you re-take your worst yearbook photos. This special screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, prize giveaways, plus an after-party down the street at McCabes (complete with 70s/80s/90s karaoke and custom drinks, such as the Mort-ini).  Screening is being held in cooperation with Story Pirates, a fantastic non-profit dedicated to celebrating the words and ideas of today’s kids.

WHERE: Lincoln Middle School,  1501 California Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403
WHEN: Saturday, Nov 16th @8pm
COST: $15 advance; $20 door
We’ve added some special treats to the Premiere that will make the evening even more fun: A yearbook photographer will be on hand to re-take your school photos.  And after the premiere, we’re hosting a get together at a nearby bar where retro-karaoke will be sung (badly and goodly)  and mortified themed drinks will be served.
Mortified Nation is a documentary about adults who share their most embarrassing, private childhood writings… in front of total strangers. The film blends performance footage with an examination of the rise of Mortified stage shows, and chronicles how the simple act of exposing one’s private past can inspire an entire nation to “share the shame.” Transporting viewers back to a time of awkward firsts— first love, first rejection, first total freak out— the film captures the adolescent experience in a way few of us truly remember and most of us tried to forget.
